What I Have Learn't About Creativity

STAY ON THE FUCKING BUS
  • You will always be compared to some else
  • You will always be trying to come up with new ideas
  • You will be criticised because your work is not "original" or good enough
  • You will get hiccup after hiccup and eventually you will want to get off the bus
REMEMBER as the saying goes Rome wasn't built in a day, so don't be disappointed if something did not go the way you had planned in your head. Nothing happens over night, things take time. By staying on the bus, you are simply giving yourself more time to make your craft great instead of ordinary so with that being said I have learn't to...

Making Your Own T-Shirt

I have decided to design a t-shirt with an image of my choice on it. My reason for choosing this specific craft is because I wanted to challenge myself as I have never worked with fabric paint before let alone painting on any kind of fabric. I enjoy painting and that’s why I chose to do painting as my craft.  I have always wanted to design my own t-shirt and this craft helped me to do so. I have chosen The Joker because I am extremely fascinated by the character; something about him makes me want to keep knowing more.

Overall I enjoyed making a craft even though there were some speed bumps along the way. If I had the chance to do it all over again I would, simply because I would now know what to expect when a craft like this has to be made from scratch.

To Make Your Own T-Shirt You Will Need The Following:
  • 1 Plain white t-shirt (any size of your choice)
  • 4 different colours of fabric paint (Light Blue, Dark Blue, Rave White, Light Green) (The colour of choice is completely up to you. I have given the colours which i have used)
  • 1 paint brush (medium to small size)
  • 1 picture of the joker
  • 1 pencil (HB/4B)
This is the image I have chosen
Step 1
Place the t-shirt on a flat surface. have the image of the joker next to you or oppose you, you must be able to see it clearly.

Step 2
Slowly draw the image on the t-shirt. Be sure to keep the t-shirt steady as possible as it will move while you are drawing on it. (For those who are not good at free hand drawing, you can always use a light box to help you)

Step 3
Once the image is drawn on, you may now start to add the fabric paint where necessary. It is best to start painting from the inside working your way out, this way you do not smudge anything.

Step 4
When you have finished painting the image on the t-shirt, leave it to dry over night.

The finished product should look like the image below:

What Is Creativity?

  • Being able to think outside the box
  • Not being afraid of what others think of your ideas
  • Doing what you love with a passion
  • Not being the 'Average Joe' type of person
  • You keep everyone guessing on what's going to happen next
  • You are able to express yourself in more than one way
  • Expecting the unexpected

5 Influences Of My Life

1. This is my hometown (Cape Town also known as The Mother City)

It's the 2nd most popular city after Johannesburg.

2. Tupac Amaru Shakur - In my opinion the greatest rapper to ever live.

3. Music has always been a love of mine since I can remember.
Music is an art form who's medium is sound.

4. 'My Letter To Hip Hop' is my all time favourite poem by Bridget Gray.
This particular poem makes me think about how Hip Hop is actually
suppose to be and what is has become in today's world.

5. Last but definitely not least, is my son Levi. All I can say is that he is
my heartbeat, he might be a headache sometimes
but he really is my HEARTBEAT.

A Love For Photography...

One of my career choices has always been to be in the photography industry, however little did I know it's not as simple as pressing a button... There's huge amount of work that goes into taking a photograph. I still wouldn't mind making a career out of it though or maybe just a part-time hobby... We shall see what happens...

My influences for wanting to do photography are:
Here are a few of my photographs, hope you enjoy...
